Dr. Douglas HayniePublished Wednesday, February 14, 2007 in the Nevada County PicayuneDr. Douglas Cox Haynie, of Rogers, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at 2:33 a.m., in his home surrounded by family. Doug was born Feb. 26, 1935, in Prescott to Thurman and Glendene Haynie. He graduated from Prescott High School in 1958. He attended the University of Arkansas and went on to earn his doctorate of pharmacy from University of Arkansas Medical School. He owned and operated five pharmacies throughout Arkansas during his career and was the senior staff pharmacist at the University of Arkansas Student Health Center since 1995. He was a supporter of the Arkansas Razorbacks, and an avid hunter and fisherman. Doug is survived by his wife of 46 years, Deanna Moore Haynie; a son, Bryon Haynie and his wife Becky; two daughters, Karyn Haynie and Elaine Haynie Bridges and husband Jake, all of Rogers; eleven grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Tyree and husband Delmar of Prescott; three brothers, George Howard Doc Haynie and wife Mary Lee of Hope, James Red Haynie of Hot Springs, and Earl Wayne Haynie and wife Kay of Prescott; one sister-in-law, Sandra Moore Herzfeld, many nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends. He gave his life to Christ at the age of eleven and lived his life serving others. He was a member and retired deacon of First Baptist Church of Rogers. Visitation was held Monday, Feb. 12, from 6-8 p.m. at Stockdale Funeral Services. A memorial service was held at First Baptist Church in Rogers, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, with Dr. Wes George, and the Revs. Tommy Hinson and Ben Rowell officiating. Internment was at Oak Grove Cemetery on Pleasant Grove Road in Rogers. His nephews served as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Fulfilling the Mission Building Fund, 626 W. Olive Street, Rogers, AR, 72756; or Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762.
