Circus Is Coming To Gurdon

Published Wednesday, March 17, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

The Kelly Miller Circus, founded during the Depression, is making a stop in Gurdon.

Founded in 1938 by Obert Miller and his sons Kelly and Dores, this traditional tented circus has seen the passing of over half this century and still offers the same great family entertainment it presented in its humble beginnings.

Thanks to the sponsorship of Gurdon Chamber of Commerce, the all new edition of the Kelly Miller Circus will be in town on Friday, April 16, for two performances at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Gurdon Municipal Airport.

Representatives from the Kelly Miller Circus will be calling on local businesses to purchase advance children's tickets. These tickets will be delivered to all businesses who wish to participate. The advance ticket price is $5.

This year's show features elephants, horses, dogs and a cast of international circus stars under a beautiful circus big top. The tent raising itself is a great free show that will take place at about 9:00 a.m. and the public is invited.

Enjoying the day at the circus means a lot more than just old-fashioned family fun. The event is a fund-raiser for the Gurdon Chamber of Commerce.

Buying tickets in advance means the public can save money as well as support the year- round projects of this local organization.

For more information on the circus, call the Chamber of Commerce at 353-2661.
