County's first wayside sign to be at MoscowBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, February 7, 2007 in the Nevada County Picayune Nevada County is soon to have its first wayside sign - a result of a mini-grant from the Arkansas Humanities Council. The sign will indicate that Moscow Church and Cemetery are included on the states Register of Historic Places, according to Mary Godwin, executive director of the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce. Godwin said the chamber and economic development office collaborated on the grant application. This was the first grant wed ever done with the Humanities Council, Godwin said. The total grant amount was for $3,155 and the sign will be the firs wayside sign at a historical site here in Nevada County, according to Godwin. The sign should be in place by fall and is one step aimed at recruiting tourism and offering information to those who live in the county. We hope to make people aware of the rich heritage of our county, Godwin said. And we hope this is the first (wayside sign) of many. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
