Jarrel SteedPublished Wednesday, January 31, 2007 in the Nevada County PicayuneJarrel Steed, 85, of Star City, died Thursday, January 25, 2007, at Gardner Nursing Home in Star City. He was born July 13, 1921 at Caney (Nevada County) to the late B.T. and Era Hart Steed. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of C and L Electric Co-op where he worked as a serviceman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Star City, where he was a Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the VFW and was a Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy McFalls Steed. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Majors Steed of Star City; one son, Rick Steed of Alexander; three daughters, Paulette Smith of Lake Village, Sandra Poe of Gould, and Beth Foster of Pine Bluff; one brother, Don Steed of Kerrville, Texas; two sisters, Betty Aslin of Crowley, Texas, and Melva Morman of Prescott; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Star City. Bros. Mack Chambers and Stephen Beavers officiated. Pallbearers were his nephews. Honorary pallbearers were the First Baptist Church Mens Sunday School class. Burial was in Trinity Cemetery at Crigler. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 26 at the funeral home.
