Robert Henninger said the best part of being a Nevada County Sheriffs Deputy is the fact that hes often outdoors and that he has the opportunity to work with people.

I enjoy working with people, Henniger said. I enjoy helping people.

He has a military background, having spend time in the U.S. Navy as a boatswain mate. His duties was varied and included ship security. He said the fact that he was often outside was a positive point. He said he moved naturally into law enforcement following his discharge, mainly because it offered the same structured environment.

Henniger has lived in several places, but said he likes Nevada County.

Im glad to be working here, he said. I like it here.

Henninger and his wife, Jeanne, have lived in Nevada County since 2004. Both had military backgrounds and it was Jeannes family that brought the couple to the area. He has worked for the Prescott Police Department and the Louisiana Department of Corrections.

Jeanne is a student at the Southern Arkansaa University where shes working on a degree in business administration. The couple have two children.

According to Henninger, the opportunity to offer help is at the top of the list of positive points of working at the NCSO. And the negative points?

So far, there really hasnt been a worst part, he said.
