James TiptonPublished Wednesday, January 17, 2007 in the Nevada County PicayuneJames Doyle Tipton, 91, of Waldo, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Magnolia Healthcare in Magnolia. He was born June 19, 1915, in Alamo, Tenn., to the late Elmore E. Tipton and Lola Lee Sturdivant Tipton. He was a welder and pipefiter for the plumbers and pipefiters local union #706 in El Dorado, and owner of Tipton Sales and Service Company in Waldo for more than thirty years. He was a veteran in the United States Army serving during the World War II and a member of Masonic Lodge #440. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Tipton; four brothers, Hooper, Verner, Wilmar and Roy Neil Tipton; and one sister, Ruby Nell Romundstadt. He is survived by his two daughters, Carol Cassidy and husband Harold of Lufkin, Texas, and Marjorie T. Hollensworth of Jarreau, La.; two granddaughters, Carla Cassidy Brandt and husband Joe of Coppell, Texas, and Amy Hollensworth of Gordonsville, Tenn.; one grandson, Wade Hollensworth III of Baton Rouge, La.; and five great-grandchildren, Ashley Kurth, Sam Guidry, Jessica Smith, Caroline Blevins, Emilie Webb, and Tara Brandt. Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eric Goble officiating. A Masonic graveside service was at Watts Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home of Magnolia. Family visitation was Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pall bearers were Bobby Black, James Robison, Wade Hollensworth, Harold Cassidy, and Joe Brandt. Honorary pall bearers were Matthew King, members of the Masonic Lodge #440, and caregivers, Nadine Johnson and Marilyn Smith.
