A Prescott man led officers from several area law enforcement agencies on a chase before being apprehended.

According to information from the Prescott Police Department, Terry Woodley, 25, 365 W. Elm, was in a vehicle with the tag in the back window.

Woodley reportedly exited the vehicle and walked away, PPD officer Kevin Colvey indicated in his report. Colvey reported that he told Woodley to stop, but the man ran around the house and north on School Street.

Colvey stated that Nevada County Sheriff Bobby Carlton joined the chase and saw Woodley at an abandoned house on Fifth and East Laurel streets.

The vehicle Woodley had been driving was later found being driven by Dwight Hopson, 41, 700 High Meadow. Hopson was arrested without incident for interfering with a government operation because he moved the car from the scene, and for driving with a suspended license.

Meanwhile, officers continued to chase Woodley. Carlton indicated that Woodley had attempted to steal a pickup truck.

He had the door open and was inside, Colveys report stated.

PPD Chief Brian Russell joined the pursuit which then lead into a wooded area. According to Colveys report, officers lost sight of Woodley near a creek. Finding no footprints in the mud near the creek, Colvey turned his attention to a grassy area and discovered Woodley laying in the weeds near the creek, according to the report.

Woodley was charged with fleeing on foot, breaking and entering a motor vehicle and improper placement of tags. According to information from the jail, Woodley had undergone first appearance Jan. 12, but remained in custody.
