United Way Seeking AgenciesPublished Wednesday, March 17, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesFunding requests from incorporated non-profit groups are being accepted by the United Way of Clark County. The United Way is hosting an informational meeting on Thursday, March 18, for current and potential agencies. The 2000 Application for Affiliation will be available at this meeting and representatives from the United Way will be available to answer any questions regarding the application process. This meeting is mandatory for existing agencies. All agencies seeking funds must apply for 2000 aid, including those that received 1999 funding. Deadline for applications is Monday, May 3. The United Way allocations committee will then review requests and make recommendations to the United Way board of directors. Current and potential agencies must meeting certain criteria for funding:
Agencies receiving aid from the United Way of Clark County include the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Arkadelphia Little League, Arthritis Foundation, Boy Scouts, Clark County Youth Development Center and Central Arkansas Development Council. Other agencies include the Clark County 4-H, Community Family Enrichment Center, Conifer Girl Scouts Council, Courage House, Group Living, Hours of Joy Child Care Inc., Humane Society of Clark County, Two Rivers Girls Scouts Association and the Volunteer Council. Articles dated December 1981 through May 2001 were contributed by Ragsdale Printing Company, Inc. Articles June 2001 to ? were contributed by Better Built Group, Inc. Articles ? to October 2008 were contributed by GateHouse Media. Ownership of all Nevada County Picayune content from the beginning of the newspaper, including predecessors, until May 2001 was contributed by the John and Betty Ragsdale family to the Prescott Community Freenet Association.
