Harris Throws Hat In Race

Another candidate has entered the race for Fourth Congressional District House of Representatives.

Bruce C. Harris, of Pine Bluff, has announced his intentions to seek this office.

Harris is a fifth generation Arkansan who was the chief of staff for Rep. Marion Berry and served as chief agricultural advisor to U.S. Rep. Blanche Lambert Lincoln.

With Berry, Harris was responsible for administering a $1 million annual budget while supervising 18 employees in two states.

He developed and coordinated legislation as an agriculture assistance program, water resource issues, highway projects, welfare reform and budget negotiations.

With Lincoln he served as a legislative assistant and worked on agriculture, transportation and energy issues.

Harris is the son of Judge Eugene "Kayo" Harris and the former Kathryn Crow.

He was raised and educated in Pine Bluff, graduating from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a bachelor's degree in English and communication.

Harris is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pine Bluff, the Pine Bluff Chamber of Commerce and the UA Alumni Association.
