Officials at Gurdon City Hall are closing out the books for 2006 as they prepare to make plans for 2007.

Gurdon Recorder/Treasurer Tambra Childres said last week that she is in the process of pulling together end of the year tax paperwork and preparing to send out W-2 forms to city employees. She is also working to total up 2006 expenditures so that they will know how much money is available for carry-over to the 2007 budget.

Childres said the 2007 budget must be adopted by the Gurdon City Council by Feb. 1, according to state law. She said a special city council meeting is usually called for that purpose.

Mayor Clayton Franklin said no plans have been set forth for the citys 2007 budget as of yet. He expects to have some idea of where the city will be headed in 2007 in the coming days.
