Merle HillPublished Wednesday, January 10, 2007 in the Nevada County PicayuneMerle A. Hill, 90, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, in Dumas. Mrs. Hill was born Sept. 21, 1916, in Cale. She had been a resident of Sunray since 1953 and an Aflac Insurance agent for 31 years. She was a member of TOPS for more than 40 years and a member of Sunray Baptist Church. She married Mick Salmon on May 8, 1941. She was preceded in death by her second husband, C.N. Hill, on Dec. 18, 1970; and two stepsons, Johnny Hill and Jimmy Hill. Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday in Sunray Baptist Church with the Rev. Philip Hilton, pastor officiating. Burial was in Brown Memorial Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Survivors include two sons, Mike Hill and wife Kathy and Max Hill and wife Debbie, all of Sunray; two stepdaughters, Janiece Guffey and husband Corky of Floydada and Claudine Keisling and husband Delmer of Sunray; two sisters, Omadeen Brzeski of Prescott and Louona Jones of Foreman; and four grandchildren, Mandy, Michael, Amber and Andrea. The family suggests memorials be made to Sunray Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 550, Sunray, Texas 79086. The family will be at 914 Avenue N. in Sunray.
