Two Gurdon women will now have to appear before a judge after a dispute that began with the alleged theft of water and ended with the alleged brandishing of a handgun.

According to a police report on file at the Gurdon Police Department, officers were called to residence on North Third Street on Saturday, Dec. 23 after the resident, Patrina Porter, reported a neighbor had pointed a gun at her and two others while they were getting water from an outside water faucet at the neighbors house.

Porter reportedly told police that her water had been turned off a few days prior to the incident and that she had attempted to obtain permission to use the neighbors faucet. According to the report, the faucet is located about 20 yards from Porters residence.

The neighbor, Taletha Heard, of 209 E. Walnut, admitted to police that she had come outside with the firearm and was upset at the time, the report states. She indicated that her house had recently been broken into, and those getting water caused her dog to bark, startling her.

Heard reportedly denied pointing the handgun at any of the three getting water from her faucet.

Gurdon Police issued both Porter and Heard summons to appear in court where a judge will sort out the details. Porter is summoned on one count of theft of property and Heard is summoned on three counts of terroristic threatening.

Also on file at the Gurdon Police Department were two reports filed on Dec. 27. The first was filed by an Arkadelphia resident concerning a broken windshield, and the second was filed by a resident of Ninth Street concerning a prowler in the neighborhood. Police were reportedly unable to locate anyone near the premises.
