Motions for discovery have been filed on behalf of Clyde Jerome Williams, 32, of 111 Sticky Road, and Wesley Buford, 28, of 203 Magnolia St., after the two men were arrested on charges relating to drugs and firearms in early December.

According to documents filed in the Clark County Circuit Clerks office, attorneys for both men are asking that evidence, witness lists and other items which will be used by the prosecuting attorneys office be turned over to them in order that they may prepare for trail.

An affidavit filed with the court by Agent Brent Whitworth of Group 6 - Narcotics Enforcement Unit details the events which lead to the arrests of the two men and a third man on Dec. 1.

According to the affidavit, Whitworth was told by a confidential informant in November that Buford had been arrested by the Hot Spring County Sheriffs Department for possession of powder cocain. The informant reportedly told Whitworth that Burford was delivering cocain to Arkadelphia. It was also discovered that Buford had an outstanding warrant from the Bryant Police Department.

The court documents state that Whitworth received a tip that Buford was in Arkadelphia delivering drugs on Dec. 1, and that he was driving a green Nissan Altima.

Later in the day, Whitworth and Officer Brady Harman located the vehicle traveling back toward Gurdon from Arkadelphia on U.S. 67, the records state. The vehicle pulled into the parking lot at R&Js gas station, and after determining that they had the correct vehicle, the officers, one of whom was in uniform, approached the occupants.

The affidavit indicates that the driver accelerated the vehicle in reverse at a high rate of speed, but then came to a stop.

The driver was identified as Williams, and once in custody a substance identified as crack cocain was found in his pocket, the court documents state.

Williams and another man were reported as being passengers in the vehicle.

Williams is charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance and illegal possession of a firearm.

Buford was charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance and simultaneous possession of a drugs and a firearm.

All of the charges are felonies.
