Nell JohnsonPublished Wednesday, January 3, 2007 in the Nevada County PicayuneNell Rose Johnson, 79, of Hope, died December 27, 2006, in Hope. She was a retired adult literacy teacher and homemaker. She was born March 21, 1927 in Norphlett. She was with the Daughters of American Revolution, a Baptist, an avid reader, and loved her grandchildren dearly. She is the daughter of Charlie and Vernie Lee Johnson Holdman. She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Edward Yarbrough and Clarence Johnson; one son, Tommy Lee Yarbrough; two sisters; and one brother. Survivors include one son, Larry E. Yarbrough and wife, Loretta of Palm Bay, Flor.; one daughter, Linda Gail Callicott and husband, Bill of Laneburg; one sister, Jewell Tootsie Wallace of Rogers; eight grandchildren, Jami Yarbrough, Stacy Purtle, Todd Callicott, Shannon Callicott, Becky Hamilton, Matt Hamilton, Brian Callicott, and Stacy Callicott; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one very special friend, Esther Dearinger. Grave side services were held Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 2 p.m. in New Salem Cemetery in Laneburg, with Bro. David Hampton officiating, under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home.
