James M. Brown

James M. Brown, 80, of Bossier City, La., died Sunday, March 14, 1999.

Mr. Brown was born in Gurdon. He was a building contractor and developer for over 40 years. He was the founder of James M. Brown and Builders and Real Estate, Brown Builders and Brown Paving Company. He was a developer of Golden Meadows, Plantation Trace and Northgate Village in Bossier City. He was a member of the Board of Realtors, past state director and board member of Louisiana Home Builders Association, past member of board of directors of Bossier Bank and Trust, honorary sheriff's deputy, and a member of the Shreveport Chapter of the A.G.C.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Jeanette Reynolds Brown; two sons and daughters- in-law, Doug and Annie Brown and Wayne and Ellen Brown; grandchildren, Scott and Mindy Brown, Lauri Stough, Kristen and Rocky Rockett, Jennifer Brown, Catherine Brown, Mary Ellen Brown, Susanna Brown, and Stacey and Zac McCabe; two great grandchildren, Parker and Lauri Beth Stough all of Bossier, La., two sisters, Pearl Gogle of Texas City, Texas, and Helen Gills and her husband, Rodney, of Calhoun, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ester Brown, a sister, Dora Brown, and two brothers, Brian and Bruce Brown.

Funeral services were Tuesday, March 16, at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel with Dr. Damon Vaughn, pastor of Airline Baptist Church. Burial was in Forest Park West Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Scott Brown, Rocky Rockett, Honorable Dewey Burchett, John Dowty, Grady Golden and David Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers were Belve Barnes, Dr. John Brady, Honorable Mike Daniel, Sheriff Larry Deen, Mayor George Dement, Vol Dooley, Dallas Greene, Norman Hood, Frank Pertitio, Ivan Smith, Glen Sullivan and Curtis Vailles.
