Two Prescott Curley Wolves have been named All-State for their performance in the 2006 football season.

Quarterback Ben Smith and linebacker Maxwell Hamilton, both seniors at Prescott High School, were stick to it players this season, Prescott Head Coach Greg Smith said.

Its a good feeling. Those were the words of Maxwell Hamilton after finding out that hed been named to a 2006 All State player.

I really actually didnt think Id make it, he said during an interview Thursday. It means a lot to me.

The honor means a lot to Coach Smith, too.

These two guys just came through two tough seasons, and it would have been easy for them to walk away from the team, he said.

Instead of walking away, Smith said the two All-State players worked at a high level during the off-season and stayed focused as the team prepared for the 2006 season. When the season began, they used their skills to help the team land a spot in the state AAA title game.

Smith said the entire Curley Wolf team improved as the football season progressed. He noted the scrimmage game with Arkadelphia when we didnt look too strong.

Smith said both All-State players are expected to try and play at the college level next year. No definite plans will be made, however, until at least February when college signing days begin.

Other players in the 7-AAA conference given the All-State designation include Lonnie Lacy of Gurdon, Joe Efrid of Magnet Cove, Phil Lipka and Dusty McCoy of Bismarck and Robert McClelland and Brendon Fort of Lafayette County.
