Seven area deer camps have been burglarized resulting in a long list of stolen items.

Clark County Sheriffs Department Investigator Bill Ratliff said the burglaries which were discovered on the morning of Monday, Dec. 17 occurred at deer camps which were all located near the Little Missouri River at the end of Fish Camp Road. Items stolen include a shotgun, compound bows, televisions, stereos and an ATV, among other things.

Although investigators are unsure as to how many perpetrators are responsible for the break-ins, he said the consensus is that it all occurred on Sunday evening. They also believe all of the break-ins are linked.

The area is very small where these were all located, he said.

Investigators found that forced entry was used to gain access to the items inside the camps. All of the items were under lock and key except for the ATV which was stored under a cabin that sits on stilts.

Ratliff said burglaries at deer camps in Clark County - and across the region - are not uncommon. Deer camps become an easy target for criminals because they are generally located in an isolated area, he said.
