Opal Niehuss

Opal Barringer Niehuss was born in Wheelen Springs on Feb. 1, 1914, and peacefully passed away in Dallas, Texas, on Dec. 6, 2006. She was 92 years old. She grew up in El Dorado and lived in Gurdon and Arkadelphia for many years before moving to Dallas. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Arkadelphia and was a graduate of Baylor University. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Niehuss, and her son, Robert Bobby Niehuss.

She is survived by her daughter, Barrie Gravel and husband, Martin; her granddaughter, Lale Diehl and husband, Bowen; grandsons Mike and wife, Catherine Grave, Robert Niehuss and wife, Karen, and Paul Gravel. She is also survived by her five great grandchildren, Padgitt, Henry and Christina Deilh and Benjamin and Camille Gravel.

Graveside service was held at Woodlawn Cemetery in El Dorado on Dec. 9, 2006, with Rev. Dan Loomis of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Memorials may be made to the Clark County Humane Society of Arkadelphia or to the charity of your choice.
