Wendy's World

Dear Santa,

My name is Wendy and this is the part of the letter where Im supposed to tell you Ive been a good girl this year. Instead, let me explain.

I think good is a relative term, so Im hoping that youll let me skip over this part of the letter. You have that whole naughty-nice list. I think you add it up Im probably not too far in the red.

This is also that part of the letter where I say how old I am. Considering the number of letters youve received from me over the years, I was sort of hoping we could just dispense with the formalities and get down to business.

I have quite an extensive list, though youll see that most of items are for others who might not have the time to write their own letters.

For my pal Howard Austin, I hope you can bring him a cheesecake, some chocolate pudding, plenty of sweet breads and pies and anything else that might add a few pounds. Mr. Austin has a habit of turning sideways in my photos and its sometimes very difficult to keep track of him!

Im pretty sure Mary and Carol at the Chamber office would like you to bring an extra holiday - something we could celebrate between now and Easter would be nice. Theres simply not much happening between now and then, so I dont know what those two will do with all their free time until theyre planning for Easter.

For my office manager Lisa, I wish youd bring a new kitchen gadget or two. An electric cooking appliance would be great since shes always cooking up something for us here at the office.

For my friend Joyce Gibson, please see if you can find some wonderfully unique doo-dads. Im pretty sure it was Ms. Joyce who told me that a person can never have enough doo-dads, knick-knacks and pretties. And Ms. Joyce knows those things.

For the existing and (especially) those incoming elected officials, please see if you can pick up some super-duper stress balls so theyll be very relaxed when they take office - and when theyre dealing with me.

Im thinking that Ms. Alene Spencer would probably like for you to bring her a calendar. She should have one with really big blocks for each date so that she has plenty of room to write. Shes probably the only person I know who attends more local events than I do!

My boss wants a Nikon camera. I dont really understand, but he insists.

There are some additional requests, but maybe I should just write a letter and put them in the mail.

As everyone who knows me already understands, this letter is my way of saying happy holidays to those who are part of my world.

So, dear Santa, remember everyone who has a Christmas wish. Remind those who are able to grant wishes that this is the time to do so. And help us all remember that peace, health, happiness, friendship and love are among the best gifts.

And finally, Santa, let me tell you that the entire incident involving the bubbles and the washing machine and the frog and the chocolate-chunky-chip ice cream was absolutely not my fault. Stop by for some milk and cookies and Ill explain it all.

Love,

Wendy
