Its almost Christmas, and that means its almost time for the annual Christmas party at the Gurdon Senior Adult Activity Center.

This joints gonna be jumping, Royce Ann Barbaree, director of the center, said. The annual event is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 22 and will begin at 10:45 a.m.

Barbaree said the Christmas party is the centers biggest celebration of the year. Those attending will be served a traditional Christmas meal that includes turkey and all of the trimmings. Her punch, which has become a favorite at the center, will also be served.

The center asks that those age 60 and older give a $1.50 donation for the meal. Those under 60 are asked to give a $5 donation.

Door prizes will be handed out throughout the party. There will also be games, entertainment and plenty of time to visit with friends.

Its gonna be a great party, Barbaree said. But what everybody likes to do the most is come in and visit with everyone.

She said the party is not just for those who regularly visit the center for lunch; it is for the whole community.

The Gurdon Senior Activity Center is managed by the Central Arkansas Development Council and sponsors activities for every holiday, Barbaree said. At Easter, it is not uncommon for those who attend to participate in an Easter basket or hat contest.

The center also serves as a place where community members can gather to visit on a regular basis.

I have eight to ten people come in early every day to drink coffee and play dominoes, she said. They just love it.

Barbaree invites everyone to stop in and visit the center. There are no age requirements for the meals served each day.

We would love to have everyone check us out.
