Jerry Don WilkersonPublished Wednesday, December 13, 2006 in the Nevada County PicayuneJerry Don Wilkerson, 48, of Smackover, died Tuesday, December 5, 2006, in Mansfield, La. He was born April 4, 1958, in Odessa, Texas. He was the son of Hildred Hot Shot Wilkerson and Billie Ruth Shugart Wilkerson. Jerry received Jesus as Savior at Westover Baptist Church of Odessa, Texas. He was a member and deacon at Maple Avenue Baptist Church in Smackover, and worked as Shop and Service Manager at Arkla Taylor Forklifts for 17 years. Jerry was a devoted husband for 29 years, a wonderful father, and a very proud granddaddy; his granddaughter brightened up his world beyond measure. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Jerry is survived by his wife, Lynda L. Wilkerson of Smackover; a son, Jason Don Wilkerson and his wife Lindsey of Memphis, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Audrey Julia Wilkerson of Memphis, Tenn.; his mother, Billie Wilkerson of Odessa, Texas; two sisters, Debra Gordon and her husband Doug of Maumelle and Shirley Peterson and her husband David of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Paul Wilkerson and his wife Pennie and Brian Wilkerson, all of Odessa; three nieces, Vanna Gordon, Ahsley Wilkerson and Felicia Taylor; four nephews, Chris Peterson, Patrick Wilkerson, Jerroll. W. Taylor Jr. and his wife Tonya and their children, Clayton and Cheyanne, and Jeremy Taylor and his wife Amanda and son Arlen; and many other friends and family. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2006, at the chapel of Youngs Funeral Directors in El Dorado, with Rev. Mike Senn officiating. Burial was at DeAnn Cemetery in Prescott. Pall bearers were Billy Harris, Gerry Risinger, Patrick Wilkerson, Steve Miller, Wesley Clark, Chuck Sellers, Mark Rudd and Scott Beatey. Jerrys co-workers at Arkla Taylor Forklifts were honorary pall bearers. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2006, at the funeral home, 508 Champagnolle Road, El Dorado.
