PD makes meth bust

A Paragould man was arrested in an 18-wheeler after Clark County and Prescott deputies pieced together a story that apparently involved the transportation of crystal methamphetamine.

According to a report on file with the Prescott Police Department, Charles Ray Sutton, 51, 211 Tech St., Paragould, was arrested on Dec. 4 after officers received a call from a female who alleged that Sutton was transporting meth and was trying to kill her. The report, filed by Prescott K-9 Officer John Pettit, indicated that there was some initial confusion regarding the call. At first, the caller apparently didnt give her correct location, then apparently indicated that she was actually in Hope.

The caller reportedly called back and indicated that she was in Prescott at a truck stop, and Pettit made contact after that third call.

The caller described the truck Sutton was driving and reportedly told Pettit that she had been in the truck with Sutton, that both had been doing meth, and that Sutton was trying to kill her. The police report, filed by Pettit, indicates that he searched the area but didnt locate the truck.

According to Pettits report, Clark County Sheriffs Officer Kenny Taylor notified him a short time later that they had the truck stopped near Curtis, North of Gurdon in Clark County.

Pettits report indicates that Sutton told officers the female had gone crazy and jumped from his truck.

Prescott K-9 Officer Duchess reportedly alerted officers to the presence of drugs in the truck Sutton was driving. According to Pettits report, a search of the truck turned up a small amount of a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine in a small filing cabinet in the truck. Sutton was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and Pettits report indicates that the female was also held due to her alleged involvement in the drug use.
