Billie Joe Shewbirt

Billie Joe Shewbirt, 78, of Bodcaw, formerly of McKinney, Texas, passed away November 12, 2006, in his home in Bodcaw.

He was born on November 15, 1928, in Durant, Oklahoma to Johnny and Estelle Shewbirt. He worked at Southwest Automotive in Texas for 23 years, and retired as a chicken farmer in Bodcaw. He was a Baptist.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Estelle Shewbirt; one daughter, Diana Darlene Shewbirt; one brother, Johnny Wesley Shewbirt; one sister, Betty Jean Johnson; one granddaughter, Deanna Renee Honea; and three great-grandchildren.

His survivors include his wife of 50 years, Doris (Wilbanks) Shewbirt; two sons, Ronny Wayne Shewbirt and daughter-in-law Debbie Shewbirt, Billy Eugene Shewbirt and daughter-in-law Karen Shewbirt, all of Bodcaw; one brother, Doyle Shewbirt of Troup, Texas; two sisters, Ouida Williams and Pat Fraiser, both of Bodcaw.

He leaves 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Also a number of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Visitation was held November 14, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson Funeral Home in McKinney, Texas. Funeral services were held November 15, 2006 at Turrentine-Jackson Chapel with Rev. Jerry Evans officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Faith at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
