Samuel Brooks Jr., 77, of Prescott, died Saturday, November 11, 2006, at his home.

Mr. Brooks was born October 9, 1929. He was retired owner of S&B Trucking Co., member and deacon of Faith Temple COGIC and an Army Veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Murlean Purifoy Gulley Brooks of Prescott; two daughters, Videlia Brooks Brady of Bolingbrook, Ill. and Jessica Brooks Brown of Panama City, Fla.; one son, Samuel Brooks III of Chicago; one stepdaughter, Darlene Wiley of Prescott; three stepsons, Willie Gulley, Floyd gulley and Randolph Gulley of Prescott; two brothers, Howard Brooks and Edward Brooks of St. Louis; three sisters, Carrie Collins, Ruby Ambus and Elizabeth Calmese of St. Louis; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 18 at Prescott High School Auditorium with Superintendent Leroy Sworn officiating. Burial was in DeAnn Cemetery under the direction of Brandons Mortuary.

Visitation was from 5-6 p.m., November 17, 2006 at the funeral home.
