Police offer little new information on investigation

Police are offering little information on the shooting death of a Nevada County man. The incident happened on Nov. 11. Samuel Brooks, 77, was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, 73-year-old Murlean Brooks, was able to leave the home after the attack and flag down passing motorists.

Murlean Brooks was taken to the Hope hospital and family members said on Nov. 17 that she was recovering.

There have been no arrests in the case and area police are offering little public information regarding the investigation. The Arkansas State Police has taken the lead on the investigation. Prescott Police Chief Brian Russell said on Nov. 17 that officers from his department are offering support for the state.

The attack occurred at the Brooks home on Cale Road just outside the Prescott city limits. Services for Samuel Brooks was held in Prescott Nov. 18.
