Break-ins occur at local drug storesBy Jeremy LangleyPublished Wednesday, November 15, 2006 in the Gurdon Times Police are searching for two men they believe are responsible break-ins at Thomersons Drug Store in Gurdon and All-Care Pharmacy in Arkadelphia. According to a report at the Gurdon Police Department, Officer Darrin Cooper was dispatched to Thomersons Drug Store at 113 N. 1st Street after the stores alarm was tripped. The alarm company had notified police that there had been glass breakage and motion inside the store, the report states. Once an officer from the Clark County Sheriffs Office was on scene to provide backup for Cooper, the two made entry into the building and determined that someone had been inside. Sgt. Tim Patterson, an investigator with the Clark County Sheriffs Office, said a large piece of concrete had been used by the perpetrators to break out the glass on the stores front door. After entry was made, the alleged thieves took an undermined amount of cough syrup. Investigators are attempting to piece together evidence and come up with the names of the persons responsible, Patterson said. We dont know at this point who did it, he said. But the investigation is on-going. About 45 minutes before the break-in at Thomersons, All-Care Pharmacy on Pine Street in Arkadelphia was burglarized. Patterson said the same method used to gain entry was used at both locations. Police are almost certain that the same persons are responsible for both break-ins. An undetermined amount of cough syrup was also stolen from All-Care. Patterson said the theft of cough syrup is new to him. Those who break into drug stores often go after other types of drugs. He did say that the mixing of cough syrup and a certain alcoholic beverage is supposedly a new craze. The break-ins are being investigated by the Clark County Sheriffs Office and the Arkadelphia Police Department. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
