Local store robbed - Man takes $62 at gunpointBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, November 1, 2006 in the Nevada County Picayune An armed man entered the Red-E-Mart on Highway 24 shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday demanding cash, according to information from a manager at the store. The man was dressed in black and had his face covered when he robbed the male store clerk at gunpoint. The manager said that the registered had been cleared shortly before the incident and the robber got only $62. No one was injured, but the man got away before police arrived. The man was also wearing gloves, according to information from the manager. Prescott Police Department Assistant Chief Ann Jordan said there are no suspects. She said the man has been described as being between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 foot 8 inches tall, and weight has been estimated at 145-155. There are surveillance tapes, but the mans face is not clearly seen and his race has not been determined, Jordan said. This is the second robbery of the store over the past few months.
