Prescott native on Wheel of Fortune's Best Friends WeekBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, October 25, 2006 in the Nevada County Picayune Jennifer Griffin Weinkam, a former resident of Prescott, won an opportunity to compete for cash and prizes on the popular television show, Wheel of Fortune. Weinkams mother, Marsha Giffin of Prescott, said her daughter took on the challenge to compete for a spot on the show near her hometown of Frisco, Texas. She is making her television appearance during Best Friends Week, a promotion by Wheel of Fortune. Griffin said her children grew up watching the show. Weve been watching Wheel of Fortune since the kids were little, she said during a recent interview. And Jennifer always said, Someday, Mom, Im going to get on. That someday has already occurred. The shows are prerecorded and Griffin said her daughter and her best friend, Angela, put in a successful appearance. While winners arent to be announced before the airing of the shows, Griffin did say that Jennifers performance should make her friends from Prescott proud. The process began with the solving of practice puzzles, then the two best friends took a practice turn on a simulated Wheel of Fortune set. After theyd made that cut, they were called in for a real show. The rest will have to be revealed during the broadcast, slated for Oct. 30.
