Bargain Barn set for Nov. 4

If youre looking for a bargain on just about anything, make plans to attend the annual Bargain Barn slated for Nov. 4. The event - a fundraiser for the Tri-Service Club of Prescott - will be held at the Potlatch Building on the Nevada County Fairgrounds from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Linda Vansickle, past president for the club, said the group had done some other fundraisers in years past until someone came up with the idea of a gigantic garage sale.

We needed to raise money, she said. We feel like people come because they want to.

Vansickle said she had some concerns about the sale, including whether there would be enough donated items and sufficient community support.

It just gets bigger and bigger, she said.

Vansickle said at least a part of the community support is due to the fact that the money goes right back into the community. The Tri-Service Club donated more than $4,000 last year to area programs, including boys baseball and girls softball, Nevada County Day Service Center, McRae Middle School, Mother-Child Healthcare program, the Recycle and Work Center, 4-H Club, Leadership Nevada County, the Single Parent Scholarship Fund, Destination Imagination, and Project Graduation.

Vansickle said items for sale include clothing, shoes, toys, books, household items, linens, knickknacks and more.

Donations are accepted. To offer items for the sale, see any Tri-Service Club member or drop off items at the Potlatch Building 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2. For more information, contact any club member or call Vansickle at 887-3983.

The popularity of the event means there will be plenty to choose from, but that items are likely to go quickly.

Be there at 8 for the best selection, Vansickle advised. One mans trash is another mans treasure.
