Clothes line helps police catch manBy Jeremy LangleyPublished Wednesday, October 18, 2006 in the Gurdon Times A Gurdon man was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 12 after he led a Gurdon police officer on a brief foot pursuit that ended when the man ran into a clothesline. Robert Johnson, 43, 900 S. Fifth St., was charged with criminal trespass, public intoxication and fleeing, according to a report on file at the Gurdon Police Department. The report states that Gurdon police were called to a residence on N. Sixth Street in response to a disturbance. The homeowner reportedly told police that she wanted Johnson to leave the residence. He was driven home by police and was warned of charges that could be filed against him if he was to return, the report states. A short time later, officers returned to the residence after reports that Johnson had returned. When officers arrived, he allegedly ran out the back door where he is thought to have hidden under a porch. The responding officer exited through the back door in search of Johnson who then ran across the yard and jumped over a chain link fence. The officer followed. After clearing the fence, the report states that the officer chased Johnson about 15 yards before hit a clothes line that caused him to fall. He was taken into custody transported to the Clark County Jail. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
