Junior Go-Devils win 34-14 over Junior PanthersBy Jeremy LangleyPublished Wednesday, October 11, 2006 in the Gurdon Times The Gurdon Junior Go-Devils defeated the Fouke Junior Panthers on Thursday, Oct. 5 at Go-Devil Stadium. The Go-Devils took the lead when Micha Henderson ran the ball in for a touchdown with only 33 seconds remaining in the first quarter of play. A two point conversion attempt was successful, and the Junior Devils were up 8-0. The second quarter was nearly scoreless, but the Junior Devils managed to put another six points on the board when Bobby Purifoy scored a touchdown for Gurdon. A two point conversion attempt was no good, and the Junior Devils went into the locker room ahead 14-0. About midway through the third quarter, the Junior Devils managed another touchdown. The two point conversion attempt was once again no good, and the score rose to 20-0. The Devils managed another touchdown and successful two point conversion with 5:39 left in the ballgame, bringing the score to 28-0. The Junior Panthers finally responded with 4:19 left in the final quarter. A two point conversion attempt was successful, and the Panthers narrowed the Devils lead to 28-8. It didnt take long for the Junior Devils to widen the margin once again as Junior Go-Devil Joe Burnley caught the kick-return from the Panthers and ran it all the way in for a touchdown. The attempt for extra points failed, and the Junior Devils were up 34-8. With just more than one minute left in the ballgame, the Junior Panthers were able to sneak one more touchdown past the Junior Devils. No extra points were obtained, and the Devils won the ballgame 34-14. The Junior Devils play again on Oct. 12 at Magnet Cove.
