A small amount of rainfall that fell during September wasn't enough to bring the area to normal rainfall levels. That report came from weather watcher Davis Benton.

According to Benton's report, rainfall in Cale for September was 4.22 inches, bringing the total for the year to 29.57 inches - some 15 inches below normal for the first nine months of the year.

Prescott weather watcher Phillip McAdams reports only 2.59 inches of rain inside the Prescott city limits during September. According to McAdams' report, the majority of that ran fell on Sept. 17 and 18, with 1.69 inches. Just more than a half inch of rain fell on Sept. 23.

Temperatures for the month may have seemed unusually warm for fall, even in Arkansas. McAdams reported that the high temperature for the month was recorded on Sept. 17 with 92 degrees. At the opposite end of the thermometer, the low temperature was 45 degrees on Sept. 28 and 29.

The highest temperature reported by Benton in the Cale area was 92 degrees with a low of 52 degrees.
