Hazel NixonPublished Wednesday, October 4, 2006 in the Nevada County PicayuneHazel Lee Simpson Nixon, 84, of Prescott, Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, in Wadley Regional Medical Center, Texarkana, TX. She was born on July 1, 1922, in Prescott, to Will and Sarah Hamilton Simpson. She was a retired custodian at the Nevada County Courthouse and former employee of Mr. and Mrs. Duncan McRae and Judge Duncan Culpepper. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Prescott, and the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon Nixon, Sr.; and one daughter, Arlinda Gulley. Her survivors include, four sons, Thomas Leroy Nixon of El Centro, Calif., Donald Nixon and John Calvin Nixon, both of Prescott, and Leon Nixon Jr. of Fayetteville, Ga.; seven daughters, Mary Ann Railey, Sarah Kathryn Johnson, and Lencola Nixon, all of Prescott, Lucy Lee Nixon of Vallejo, Calif., Wilma McNeil of Atlanta, Ga., Brenda Kay Sloan of San Diego, Calif., and Iris Renee Carter of San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Nazlee Warren of Snellville, Ga. and thirty grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in Prescott, with Rev. Mickey Manning officiating. Burial followed in DeAnn Cemetery in Prescott. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott. Family received friends, Tuesday, October 3, 2006, from 5-6 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
