FSA Plans Meeting At Oak Grove The Omnibus Consolidated and Emergency

Supplemental Appropriations Act of 1999 provides for the availability of recourse loans to producers of mohair produced during or before fiscal year 1999.

The mohair recourse loan program authorizes Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) to make available to producers 12-month interest-free recourse loans on mohair produced during or before fiscal year 1999.

Eligible producers may obtain a loan by requesting loans on or before September 30 on mohair stored in warehouses. Producer shall request loans at county offices of the Farm Service Agency where the producer's farm records are located.

To be eligible for recourse loan, the mohair must have been produced by an eligible producer, produced in the U.S. before or during fiscal year 1999 and shorn from goats owned by the eligible producer for not less than 180 calendar days, except for kids younger than 180 days.

The mohair must be stored in a warehouse, in acceptable bags and be merchantable quality deemed by CCC to be suitable for loan.
