Suspect caught after fleeingBy Jeremy LangleyPublished Wednesday, September 27, 2006 in the Gurdon Times After spending several months on the run, a Gurdon man is in police custody. Darnell Marks, 35, of 126 Front Street, was arrested by Gurdon police after a tip led them to the house where he was hiding. Marks was wanted for failing to appear for a trail where he was to be tried on drug charges. Marks was first arrested on Nov. 4, 2005, during an all-day drug raid that resulted in the arrest of four persons. The raid included officers from the Gurdon Police Department, Clark County Sheriffs Department, Arkadelphia Police Department, Arkansas State Police and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Gurdon Marshal Don Childres said the charges against Marks include two counts of possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine) and two counts of delivery of a controlled substance within the boundaries of a church, day care or school. All of the charges are felonies. Police found Marks on Sept. 17 at a residence on Magnolia Street. One police officer said he was taken into custody without major incident, but he did seem to want to attempt to run after he was in custody. Marks was taken to the Clark County Jail in Arkadelphia. Childres said his trail was set to begin on Monday. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
