Amanda Salb Breaks Two Records At Mount HolyokePublished Wednesday, March 17, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneAmanda Salb, a Mount Holyoke College senior from Buckner, established new career highs in steals and rebounds for the college's basketball team during the just completed 1998-99 season. Salb, a 5'9" forward, averaged nine rebounds a game this season, finishing with 927 for her career. Elizabeth Cromack had 907 rebounds during her Mount Holyoke career from 1983- 1987. Salb had 226 rebounds for the season. Salb had 53 steals this season for a career total of 201, three more than Emily McNutt, who had 198 from 1993-1997. Salb averaged more than two steals per game this year. "Amanda has been an outstanding player during her four years at Mount Holyoke, as these records attest," said her coach, Ted Eskildsen. "She's a quality person as well as a great athlete, and is very deserving of this recognition," the coach said. Salb, who graduated from Nevada High School four years ago, is an outstanding outdoor track athlete as well, and is the defending Division III National Champion in the shot put.
