Curley and Co. to be hot stockBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, September 20, 2006 in the Nevada County Picayune If youre looking for the absolute hottest stock tip around - one sure to offer up fabulous returns over a relatively short period of time - take a look at Curley & Co. Its not at all a new idea and it doesnt cost a dime. Curley & Co. is the newly-established reading program being implemented by MMS librarian Anne Franks as the school searches for ways to get kids involved in one of the most basic disciplines - reading. The company works on a simple set of rules and goals. Students, faculty and staff at MMS will all be working toward individual goals of one million words read. Thats right - faculty and staff will also be participating. Were all in this together, Franks said. And that includes the community. Franks said shes currently looking for those in the county who want to get in on the ground floor of Curley & Co. Anyone who wants to participate simply posts a sign indicating what that person is currently reading. It could be a novel, manual, magazine or newspaper. The key, Franks said, is to encourage reading throughout the community in an effort to help youngsters see that the process is important to success. Franks said students will be offered specific rewards along their way to reading a million words. It may sound like a lot, but Franks said its actually about 25 books written on an eighth grade level and about 30 for books written at a slightly lower level.
