Lots of county fair activities still on tapBy John NelsonPublished Wednesday, September 13, 2006 in the Gurdon Times The fair started on Monday, Sept. 11, but there are several events on tap for the coming days. As in past years, the George Sharp Junior Livestock Sale will be held on the last morning of the fair. It is to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Clark County Fairgrounds. According to marketing committee members Jerry Clemons and Stacey Stone, during the George Sharp sale the bid is actually a premium or reward to the junior livestock exhibitor. The animal does not change hands after the sale. The youth who have top animals may show at other fairs, such as the district fair and the state fair. Animals to be shown include: market steers, breeding stock (beef, dairy, sheep, swine, etc.), market lambs and meat goats, market swine and feeder steers. Those not able to attend the sale may make contributions by phone to Eric Hughes, 246-6796, Clemons, 246-2281; Steve Orsburn, 353-5001; Stone, 353-4414; or Grace Ann Leamons at: 353-6653.
