There were several rainy days during August - a welcome relief from the hot, dry climate early in the month.

Local weather watchers Phillip McAdams and Davis Benson report high temperatures of more than 100 degrees. McAdams reported a high of 101 in Prescott while Benson indicated a high temperature in Cale of 104 degrees.

According to McAdams, Prescott got the lions share of the rainfall with 3.34 inches in the city. Almost two inches of that rainfall came during two evening hbghthunderstorms - on Aug. 22 and 27.

Cale wasnt quite so lucky, according to Bensons report, with only 2.48 inches. Benson indicates the total rainfall from his reporting station for 2006 stands at 25.35 inches.

The temperatures cooled down considerably late in the month. McAdams said his reports show three very distinct weather periods for the month of August. The early part of the month was hot and dry, followed by several days of cloudy weather. He indicates that the final few days of August included more temperate weather, including a low temperature of 63 degrees - down considerably from the months average of 72. Benton indicates a low temperature of 64.
