Shirley A. DickensPublished Wednesday, August 30, 2006 in the Gurdon TimesShirley A. Dickens, 56, of Camden died Aug. 21, 2006, in Ouachita County Medical Center. She was born Feb. 19, 1950, in Gurdon, daughter of the late Willard and Jewel Bozeman Charles. She was an employee of Jade Food Store and a member of Greater St. Paul Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Survivors include her husband, Deotis Dickens Sr.; one son, Deotis Dickens Jr. of Crossett; two daughters, Evonda Dickens and Luquece Thirdgill of Springhill, La.; three brothers, Leon Charles of Seattle, Wash., Willie C. Charles of Lansing, Mich., and Benny A. Charles of Gurdon; three sisters, Gloria Armstrong and Althia George of Seattle, Wash., and Wilma F. House of urdon; and nine grandchildren. Funeral was at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, in Mt. Canaan Baptist Church at Gurdon with Dr. George Smith officiating. Burial was in Rose Hedge Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Home of Arkadelphia. Visitation was from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 25 at the funeral home and from 5-7 p.m. in Greater St. Paul Baptist Church in Camden. E-mail condolences to williams.hm@sbcglobal.net.
