Edith Powers

Mrs. Edith Stroud Powers, 81, of Hope, died Monday, August 21, 2006, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.

She was born in Washington on May 31, 1925, to G.M. and Etta Powers. She was a retired waitress. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church of Hope.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by one granddaughter, Katie Swinea; by two brothers, John and Royal and Dave Stroud; and by two sisters, Othal Webb and Mary Harmon.

Her survivors include her husband of 61 years, Leland Powers of Hope; two sons, Bubba Powers and Vigi and Tee Powers all of Hope; three daughters, Sheila Halsell of Hope and Leila Pitts and Jim of Greenwood, and Judy Swinea and Jim of Imboden; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 24, 2006, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope, with Revs. John Mangum and Jim Swinea officiating. Burial was in Holly Grove Cemetery in DeAnn. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

Family received friends Wednesday, August 23, 2006, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
