A Prescott coach has been fired for alleged misconduct by a vote of 3-2 by the Prescott School Board. The action took place following an executive session called on Aug. 17.

According to minutes from that meeting, Prescott Superintendent Hyacinth Deon made the recommendation to terminate the employment contract of Chad Rook as an employee of the Prescott School District. The minutes state that board member Tom Cornelius made the motion to accept Deons recommendation and board secretary Sandra Tatum seconded. Board president Patricia Blake, Cornelius and Tatum voted to terminate Rook with board vice-president Shane Meador and board member Jo Beth Glass voting against the recommendation to terminate.

Deon confirmed that an investigation had been ongoing into actions in which Rook was allegedly involved, but cited personnel confidentiality and declined to give more information. She said the investigation had resulted in her decision to recommend termination but that nothing had been turned over to law enforcement for further investigation.

Deon said she believes the issue is complete.

He had the right to a hearing but he did not ask for it, she said.

Deon said the investigation into the allegations had been conducted according to standard procedure.
