Elven Mcbride

Elven McBride, age 78 of Gurdon, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006.

He was a supervisor for International Paper Co., and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Gurdon, where he taught Sunday school and was a Sunday school superintendent and deacon of the church. He was also an officer for the United Way, president of the Central Arkansas Development Council for 3 years, a 4-H leader for 20 years, a superintendent at the Clark County Fair over the produce, and a member of the Clark County Cattlemens Association.

He is survived by his wife, Mary McBride of Gurdon; one son: Ronnie McBride of Gurdon, two daughters, Crystal Dyer of Texarkana and Melody Key of Farmington; one brother, Jake McBride of Gurdon; one sister: Linda Ross  Longview, Texas;

five grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 10 Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the First Assembly of God Church of Gurdon with the Revs. Kevin Jester and Jim Farris officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Springs Cemetery under the direction of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
