Easley joins Prescott departmentBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, August 9, 2006 in the Nevada County Picayune Prescott Officer Aaron Easley joined the Prescott Police Department in July. Easley said he has been in public law enforcement for slightly more than a year, working during that time for the Nevada County Sheriff's Office. Before he began his tenure with the NCSO, he was in the military. He was a Specialist and served as a marksman in Iraq where he was stationed for about 13 months. He said he also spent time in Bosnia as a peacekeeper. "It's what I've always wanted to do," Easley said of law enforcement. "It's a respectable career - to get out there and help people." He said he choose to join the PPD because of the close-knit "family" atmosphere that has evolved in that department. That atmosphere not only makes a good working environment, according to Easley, it also makes the department more effective. Easley and his wife Tonya live in Willisville. His parents, Karry and Lucy Easley, live in Taylor. Easley obtained his officer certification from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. Early morning patrols are a positive point because the town is starting to get busy. He said patrol is one of the duties he enjoys most but that he hopes to become more involved in the investigative side of law enforcement. I'll be a cop for the rest of my life," he said. "That's the only thing I've ever wanted to do. I'll be a cop until I retire." Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
