Trade Days will continue monthlyBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, August 9, 2006 in the Nevada County Picayune The next Nevada County Trade Days is slated for Aug. 12. Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Director Mary Godwin said she hopes that having the Watermelon Festival going on at the same time will be a benefit to the monthly Prescott event. Trade Days began this summer and Godwin said the plan has always been to hold Trade Days every month for at least a year. The first three Trade Days drew varying levels of success, Godwin said. She said the chamber staff, area merchants and officials evaluate each event in an effort to increase participation. Vendor booths are still available for the August Trade Days. Booth spaces are $15 and vendors must supply whatever they need for displaying their items. A community garage sale is held in conjunction with Trade Days each month. Those who want to participate in the garage sale may set up in the field next to Sextons. There is no charge, but participants are asked to register. The Trade Days weekend has also become a popular time for individual garage sales. The heat of August could be a deterrant for the August event, Godwin said. "In September, I expect it to pck up," she said. The chamber is in the process of creating some additional drawing cards for coming months. A sidewalk chalk contest and car show are among the ideas that could be included. For more information about Trade Days, to register for a booth or submit ideas for upcoming events, contact the chamber at 887-2101. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
