Charges against a 17-year-old Prescott man accused in the armed robbery of two local convenience stores have not been formally filed, but the man is in custody according to information from the Prescott Police Department.

The name of the man has not been released, pending the filing of charges and due to the fact that he is a minor.

A second man, accused of hindering apprehension, has also been arrested and both men remain in jail, according to a report from the PPD.

According to Prescott Police Chief Brian Russell, the juvenile suspect was captured on Aug. 1.

We had tracked down some leads we had, Russell said.

He said it was a combination of information from informants and the result of the departments investigation that led to the capture.

Russell said he expects the charges to include aggravated robbery.

The man is accused of robbing two local convenience stores. The first was on July 9 when the man, armed with a gun, took more than $200 from the Red-E-Mart no Highway 24. The second robbery occurred several weeks later at the Red-E-Mart on Highway 67.

Russell said both the man accused in the robbery and the man accused of hindering his arrest are being held on bond in the Nevada County Jail.
