A two-vehicle accident on the morning of July 26 in Gurdon resulted in minor injuries to one of the drivers and serious damage to one vehicle.

Gurdon Police Sgt. Garry Marshall and Marshal Don Childres were at the scene, which was at the corner of Main and Front Streets, at approximately 7:20 that morning.

Marshalls report indicates that the accident involved Dorothy Barnes, 74, of East Main Street in Gurdon, and Larry Bradley, 60, of Fordyce.

The police report stated Barnes, who was driving a beige 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, was going west on Main Street and had the right of way.

Bradley, who was driving a green 2002 Chevrolet K1500 truck, was going east on Front Street and stopped at the stop sign with Main.

Bradley crossed Main and struck Barnes vehicle. The initial impact was his right front bumper and her left front bumper.

According to the report, Barnes was knocked east onto Front Street, where her air bags deployed. She suffered a bloody nose and was bruised on her arms and legs. She was transported by ambulance to the Baptist Medical Center at Arkadelphia.

Barnes was released later that morning, with a report of soreness and minor injuries.

The report indicates that Bradley was not injured in the wreck. The police report stated that Bradley said he did not see the Barnes vehicle coming.

The Barnes vehicle was towed in by Palmer Wrecker Service of Gurdon. Jim Farris, son-in-law of Barnes, said the car has been declared a total loss.

The police report indicated that Bradleys vehicle had to have the bumper pried away from a tire, but was not towed.
