Larry Miller has just completed his second week on duty with the Prescott Police Department, but this isnt Millers first tour of duty with the PPD. He said he has worked for the PPD and the Nevada County Sheriffs Office over the past several years. Miller became a full time police officer in 1998. He joined the NCSO as a reserve officer in 1994 and served several years as constable of Taylor Township. Law enforcement has always interested me, Miller said. He said he was an adult before he took the first step toward making that a reality in his own life. Miller is certified from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in Camden and has taken several specialized training courses during his years in police work. Those classes include drug intervention, domestic violence, field sobriety testing and hazardous material handling. Miller was also a K-9 officer and worked with Narco, the countys drug dog, until the dogs official retirement just a few weeks ago. Miller said drugs are a big concern to him as an officer. Drugs are something that you need to keep off the streets, he said, adding that hes especially concerned when the young people have the opportunity to obtain drugs. Miller and his wife Janet live in Willisville and have two children. Sylvia is 24 and lives in Hawaii and Lucas is 13 and attends Nevada School.
