Robber strikes a second storeBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, August 2, 2006 in the Nevada County Picayune Officers from the Prescott Police Department are searching for a man accused of robbing a convenience store clerk at gunpoint Sunday morning. According to Prescott Chief of Police Brian Russell, officers responded to a call at the Red-E-Mart on Highway 24 at 8:05 a.m. The store clerk, Dorothy Brucks, said she was alone in the store when a black male entered wearing a ski mask. According to Russells report, the man then revealed a gun and demanded money. He pointed a gun at her, told her to get behind the counter and open the register, Russell said. Russell said the robber was wearing a black ski mask, black shorts and a red shirt. Hes described as a black male, between 30 and 40 years old, 5 feet six inches tall, and weighing approximately 150 to 160 pounds. The gun has been described as a black semi-automatic handgun. Once the man had the money from the cash register, he fled on foot, Russell said. He reportedly got away with $257 in cash. Russell said officers continue to follow leads in the case, but said there have been no arrests made. He said he hopes that someone might have witnessed the incident or seen the man entering or leaving the building. Anyone with information should contact Russell or any PPD officer at 887-6779.
