Parents, students and teachers will likely see some changes in whats available online during the 2006-07 school year. One of the decisions made by the Prescott School Board during the July 18 meeting was to purchase new software that will give teachers some options.

Prescott Superintendent Hyacinth Deon said the new program will allow teachers to enter daily information such as attendance and grades, but offers much more. She said that when the software is being used to its full potential, parents will be able to check their childs grades and attendance from their home computers.

Another benefit is that teachers can log into the system from an alternative location - such as home - to enter information.

This will be a big time saver, Deon said.

The initial cost of the program is about $26,000, but the annual cost be a significant savings, Deon said. She said the program will replace two programs currently being used. Those two combined cost the district almost $7,000 annually.

Deon said several area schools are using the program.

If the teachers use it the way we think itll be used, itll be worth it, Deon said.
